Report 03 · For plumbers across the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Tweed Heads

Practise it before you are standing in the customer's kitchen.

Knowing a better answer is one thing. Having it come out of your mouth while the customer is looking at you, on a Friday, when you are tired, is another thing entirely.

This is a personalised recording that walks you through those conversations while you are deeply relaxed — the way a fighter shadow-boxes before the fight rather than working it out in the ring.

Your Guided Sales Rehearsal$147 on its own, or free as your first choice. One per plumbing business. No payment details.

You already know what you should have said. That is the problem.

Every plumber has driven home from a quote rehearsing the perfect answer, twenty minutes too late.

In the moment it is different. The customer flinches at the number, your chest tightens slightly, and the old habit arrives before the new sentence does — the discount, the justification, the awkward silence.

That is not a knowledge problem. You knew the better answer. Under a bit of pressure, the body reaches for whatever it has done a hundred times before.

The only fix is having done the new thing enough times that it is what arrives first. And you do not get many live attempts — each one is a real job, with real money on it.

Why the rehearsal happens while you are relaxed

The recording first guides you into a state of deep relaxation — that drowsy, heavy-limbed place you pass through every night on the way to sleep, and again for a few seconds when the alarm goes off. It has a name: theta. It sits between being fully awake and being asleep.

Here is the thinking behind using it. When you are wide awake and someone tells you how to do your job, part of you pushes back — psychologists call it reactance, and every tradie has felt it when a customer starts explaining plumbing to them. That push-back is useful in most of life. It is not useful when the person giving the instruction is you, rehearsing something you have already decided you want to do.

In that relaxed state the pushing back quietens down, and the rehearsal goes in more easily. It is the same reason athletes are talked through a race with their eyes shut, and the same reason a song you half-heard while dozing is stuck in your head the next morning.

Being straight with you: this is the reasoning behind the method, not a proven claim about your brain. How much of it is theta and how much is simply rehearsing something with full attention and no distractions is genuinely argued about. What I can tell you is what you will experience — a calm twenty minutes, walked through the conversations you find hard, hearing yourself handle them differently.

It is not sleep, and you are not unconscious. You can stop it any time, and you will remember all of it.

What the interview covers

You talk to an AI assistant for a few minutes. It asks about the business and about this topic in particular. What you say decides what gets looked at.

  • The moments you want to handle better — the price question, the "I'll think about it", the customer who wants it done cheap
  • What you tend to do now, and what you would rather do instead
  • The words that feel like you, so the recording does not put someone else's script in your mouth
  • Anything that makes those conversations harder — a bad experience, a particular type of customer

What you get back

A personalised guided recording

Built on your situations and your words. Relaxation first, then walked through each conversation — what usually happens, and the calmer version alongside it, so you feel the contrast rather than being told about it.

The full written transcript

Everything that is said, in writing. Nothing hidden, nothing buried in the audio that you did not read first.

One round of corrections

Tell me what does not sound like you, or what to change, and it gets redone once.

Read this part properly

Listen at rest, somewhere safe and comfortable. Never while driving, never on the tools, never on a ladder or near live work. It is designed to make you drowsy, and that is the whole point.

This is an optional format and plenty of people would rather just have the playbook. If the idea does not appeal to you, take report 2 instead — no persuading, it works better when you are curious about it.

It is not therapy, not medical treatment, and it treats nothing. If you have a condition where deep relaxation or guided imagery has been a problem for you, give it a miss or check with your doctor first.

And it will not install confidence you have never had. It rehearses a specific answer you have already decided you want to give.

Two blokes I've done this for. Neither is a plumber — they're cleaners on the Gold Coast — but both were paying for leads before we started, and neither is now.

I sold perfume door to door for five years. I thought I was good at it. I wasn't — what sold the perfume was the fragrance. I turned up and held the bottle.

Your website is supposed to be the fragrance. You're already doing the turning up: the van, the ads, the hours, the callouts at 2am. What's written on that site is the bit that has to do the persuading when you're not in the room.

Two businesses I helped build and sold went on to list on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. I moved to Australia in 2000 and have been building websites and generating leads for local trade businesses for the last ten years.

We used to spend up to $1,200 per week on Google AdWord campaigns for a steady workflow. In a matter of three months Hilton managed to get us ranked in the top position of the Google Map pack for multiple primary keywords, and implemented software that increased our reviews from 18 to over 100. No more AdWords or looking for customers.

I'd been paying for leads from Jim's, HiPages, OneFlare and word of mouth. Hilton promoted my page so that it appears in the Google 3 pack across a wide area for different keywords. This has totally transformed my business — I no longer pay for leads and have withdrawn from both HiPages and OneFlare.

Alan StephensStephens Cleaning Services, Gold Coast

Straight up: neither of those is a plumber — they're cleaners on the Gold Coast. Same game though, and both of them were paying good money for leads before we started.

Rehearse it somewhere it costs nothing to get wrong.

Choose this one, or look at the other five first — whichever you pick, the first one is free.
